Advanced InSAR on urban tunnelling: managing risks and enhancing operational efficiency
Blanca PAYAS PUIGARNAU, Managing Director SIXENSE
Advancements in data science and image processing capabilities, together with increased satellite image acquisition frequency and enhanced delivery mechanisms, have significantly bolstered the operational efficiency of InSAR. Today´s InSAR Monitoring programs utilizing high-resolution images area meant to mitigate risks associated with tunnel construction. Moreover, satellite SAR images cover extensive areas, and archive acquisitions provide historical ground movement data, crucial for tunnel design validation and litigation reduction.
This paper/presentation will showcase several examples of large-scale urban tunneling projects currently monitored using InSAR. Special emphasis will be placed on the utilization of Stripmap and Spotlight imagery modes, as well as the application of advanced analytics to assess and mitigate operational risks. Notably, the integration of AI and ML techniques for analyzing high-resolution InSAR time series and facilitating the delivery of timely geospatial insights to enhance operational efficiency will be highlighted.
