Synthetic glass aggregates in shotcrete production

The increasing price and diminishing reserves of natural sand and aggregates have signified a genuine need to develop a cost-effective and eco-friendly alternative to their use in shotcrete production. The ever-increasing amounts of waste glass stockpiled worldwide could offer a potential solution. In this presentation, the motivations, limitations and results of a recent project on recycling crushed waste glass in shotcrete production are reviewed.
